The Government has launched a wage subsidy program to assist businesses who are facing challenging times as a result of the MCO. The wage subsidy will be administered by SOCSO.
To qualify for the subsidy businesses have to comply with several criterias:
- Applicable for employees earning RM4,000.00 and less
- The business must be registered with SOCO or contributing to SOCSO
- The business must be a registered entity. Should have been registered with SSM or other related authorities before 1 January 2020
- The business should have been operational before 1 January 2020
- Businesses opting for the wage subsidy must retain their employees for a period of at least 6 months which includes 3 months during the period of subsidy and 3 months after the subsidy.
- Businesses with more than 76 employees are required to show evidence of reduction in revenue of at least 50% since 1 January 2020.
- Applications are to be submitted on line at www.prihatin.perkeso.gov.my
